Everlane Review | The Form Crossover Sandal

As a long-time subscriber, first-time buyer, to the transparent but high-quality retail brand Everlane, I decided to give their newest Form sandals a shot, after reading what looks like every Startup and Kickstarter's campaign of a minimalist product. What does differ Everlane from other smaller and online-based retailers is being open and transparent on how they are manufactured.
In the case on these sandals, they are made in Italy.
This product stood out to me, starting with the Email Subject Name they opted for to advertise these: Give Your Cork Sandals a Break. 
Ah yes, the infamous Birkenstocks. While comfortable, and take time to break to, they are a staple go-to for many consumers. Myself, once upon a time, included.
However, the cork showed wear much sooner than expected, and I had to retire the show after just over three years.
Via their website, here's what they claim about these sandals that surpass any cork-based sandals:

Our Form Sandals are designed with a sole that’s already formed to your foot.It’s kind of like we broke them in—so you don’t have to.Made with soft Italian leather so it improves with wear, andengineered contouring (quite the buzzword!)

They also sweetened the deal by adding a free unknown French nailpolish brand for the first 1000 orders. Why not?

The package arrived a little under two weeks since my purchase. Upon opening the box, I found a beautifully packaged grey show box. Upon lifting the lid I found a Thank You card (two in fact), my shipping manifest, a card specifying the free nail polish I got, and both the sandals and nail polish carefully packaged.





I forget if I had a choice on the nail colour, but I love the bright red and how it will look with these sandals.



As for the sandals...



They are not as milennial pink as I expected. More nude, but I am ok with it...for now. It could be the lighting. 

Upon trying them on, they are very comfortable and as claimed, no need for breaking in. As I slip them on and walk around, I can already tell these will be my go-to summer sandal.

As other reviewers noted, there is a sticker place on the back to prevent the sandals from getting scuffed while shipping. While this is considerate, the sticker is hard to remove and leaves a tiny bit of residue. One could argue that I don't know how to peel off stickers well, but if many other people were annoyed enough by this to leave a review about it, it can't just be me.

Speaking of the bottom, the bottom of the sandals feel very soft as well. I am a bit anxious of the wear that will happen to the bottom of these sandals but I'll just have to find out as I continue wearing them in the long-run.

I haven't done a review like this in a very long time. Perhaps with my upcoming JapanCrate I'll do another review. Maybe, maybe a video.

I turned 21 last weekend and was reminded of how long I've had this blog (since 2008). I thought I'd share some photos of myself chilling by Cabbagetown. Nothing says great weekend like gallivanting the streets of Toronto on a sunny day.

I mainly shot video footage for my first and upcoming blog. On to actual editing @_@

Nothing like Taco Bae on your bae day (don't judge me).

The vlog I will one day post is in regards to "birthday deals" Torontonians (Torontonites? Torontonauts? Or anyone visiting) can get food-wise. I didn't do much regarding that regrettably. However, I thought I got some great footage and busted some myths (well, claims more like) on some supposed birthday deals you could get (looking at you Taco Bell).

Besides living relatively close-by to Cabbagetown, I knew Jet Fuel serves any size beverage to people on their birth date, so I thought, why not, while I still had some time to kill.
That being said, they serve the cheapest (and honestly one of the best) lattes around (in Toronto anyways); 3 dollars for a small and 4 for a large. You can pretty much guess which one I opted for.
I've heard they make a mean lemonade too, although I've never tried it yet.

Topshop/Hudson's Bay Haul 2013

Hi all!

I've decided to post videos/host my YouTube channel again! I prefer blogging as I don't *have* to show my face all the time and still like a hot mess (hell I do in this video too ahahaha ..ogod) but practice makes perfect (I hope) and will shoot more videos on reviews/hauls.
I would like to post OOTDs here but the only thing I need now is a tripod of sorts (and time...which disappears the more I age..) but I'd like to be consistent if possible.
{on another note, shooting videos are a challenge if you've got little-to-none privacy and an extremely loud and boisterous family!}

Major Hiatus (apologies) and spring cleaning

So it's finally (officially) the first day of summer despite the fact it's felt like summer since May.
So technically yesterday was still spring and that's when I decided to overhaul my room and spruce things up a bit (still [sort of] continuing today but mostly minor details).
I was inspired when perusing what felt like every single Teen Vogue room tour, from some that are quirky and whimsical to others that had thousands to spend and are obviously the 1%, gave me ideas on how to design my room. However, my room is like a living breathing organism where since 2006, it's been transforming before everyone's eyes through beds, desks, and pain colour (/it's only been two colours..)
 Since my hiatus, many things have happened like Lanvin's flats collection presented through ballet, Isabel Marant collaborating with H&M, finally installing Instagram (and now there's video?! Poor Vine..). Well, loads have happened and since then, I've just been marathoning Arrested Development, That's 70s Show and feeling empty inside now that Game of Thrones, Mad Men and Hannibal are done/pretty much done however True Blood has started and...wow I watch way too many shows {/no shame}
Besides my TV addiction, I snagged a summer job (success!) It's just part time at a famous clothing/accessories store that preteens thrive on {hint hint it's Canadian} located at a ratchet Outlet Mall. Coworkers and nice and chill. The place can be chaotic but snagging flats, bikinis and thousands of other items for less than 13 bucks is pretty amazing.

UGH graininess. The Cat I DIYed with acrylic paint. Waterproof as well considering I was wearing these when caught in a thunderstorm. 

I did some shopping since at H&M, Urban Behaviour etc. I should do haul videos/take photos. I'll definitely make more of an attempt of taking work outfits as it's the only time I'm not in trackies/shorts and a baggy T-Shirt (PS I've been trying to work out and eat healthy) As for Haul vids..I used to do them/review vids but I always look like a mess and never do myself up for a video (/laziness).

As a final note, I found this a while back and fell in love.

Lazy Hazy Crazy Days of Summer

My life thus far since my exams have been over and done with consist of galavanting downtown (sometimes), finding work (which I have finally found), watching 30 Rock and That 70s Show marathons, and a minor tid-bit of reading/writing.

However, some comments (by some I mean one...meep) asked about my result in attempting the nails from my favourites of the month post. To warn  tell you the truth, I am horrible with nails. It was fine while my nails were pink and added te teal line (using tape to make it straight). However, the red part was obviously the trickiest part and being an idiot, I decided a Q-Tip would suffice to make the round dot...thingys.

Apologies for the horrendous quality. The iPod Touch camera is infinitely worse than an iPhone (moral of the story: just get out your Canon even if it's only 6-7 megapixels...yeah I don't have many cameras)

 I also did a shopping trip at Forever 21. I wasn't really in the mood to shop,  however it was my mother's treat (upcoming birthday...trust me this isn't a typical thing for her to do) However, I came across these pieces that I liked very much. I actually tried these in the dressing room as it wasn't that busy today!

My mom loved this as she spotted this first. I don't have a top like this and I found it to be pretty versatile for the summer.

(apologies for not rotating this). Also sorry for the terrible exposure, but this dress was tucked away in one of the corners of the store and picked it out because this isn't the usual thing I go for. However, I loved how it looked on me (and I like Daisies .... ho ho!) Daisy Print Dress

I saw the girl in front of me at the checkout counter with these, and I literally rushed to get a pair. These are apparently harem pants (?) but they don't ressemble any sort of Hammerpants (that I'm familiar with anyway..)

As much as I'd love to post photos of myself wearing this (one day I might...if I ever purchase a tripod...or find some stable ground in my backyard) I'll post them soon.

On other news, I discovered a Korean Brand LUCKY CHOUETTE 
If you're an owl fan like myself, I'm sure you'll be obsessed with their line just like I am (eagerly waiting to start my job so I can get this Bebe top.

So I never really create these, however, this is what I'd really like: the Kitty Dress, the Swan Shirt (blouse? I honestly never know what to call any type of top these days...) and the cosmo leggings that have been hyped God knows how many times on lookbook. The nails will be a feeble attempt on my part (= failure. I will post my attempt though soon enough!).
Hopefully I can own the other things one day...once I get a job especially (crossing fingers).
Tomorrow, I'm finally going out and doing something (wut), which is great because I've been lazing around (which I'm cool with..my mumzeh meanwhile isn't on the same page as me).

Dolly Bow Bow Review

When I was just about to give up on this blog that I've had for years, I decided to keep blogging as much as I can, realizing how after all this time, from the time I discovered fashion, Vogue, Teen Vogue, numerous other fashion magazines and later on numerous other fashion blogs, I still love fashion and style and would love to work at a fashion zine...or at least intern for one as my medium-term goal.
Anywho, enough about that and on to my review on Dolly Bow Bow!
How I discovered Kate's website was by discovering Kate herself on YouTube . This was way-back when I had money to purchase Lush products and was addicted to watching Lush hauls/collections. Upon discovering her Lush haul video {which just so happened to her her first video!} I later on loved her style, and her other haul videos  {making me even more jealous about not having a Primark in Canada..}.
She is indeed très girly, vintage{y}, and a bit kitschy as well. She originally designed jewelry and dolly bows {aka those flexible bendy headbands...you know those ones form American Apparel!} Hers are less pricey {I think...considering it's pounds I always get a bit confused to be honest..} as well as she has more patterns available with cute girly names for all her items.
When I purchased my products on her site {via PayPal}, as I noted before, she only had jewelry and dolly bows at the time. Kate has since expanded to clothing {dresses, pants, shorts, shirts} and floral crowns and even more jewelry! Her popularity on YouTube has increased immensely {no surprise there!} especially her old room tour {another thing I'm addicted to; that and closet tours}.
Anywho, I purchased {around a year ago} two necklaces and a Dolly Bow. the dolly bow is not available anymore {or out of stock...?} but the necklaces are still in stock!

I chose the shortest chain length for both of the necklaces. You can customize the chain length by choosing a larger length but it'll cost you a pound more.

The products were mailed to be in a larger envelope with this packaging. I found it absolutely adorable and have still kept the packaging.

Each necklace was from two bags. For that reason, it was because my dolly bow had taken a longer time to arrive and I ordered the anchor necklace in that meantime {the ballerina girl necklace came first}. One baggie had a gold stars {Quelle adorable much?} but the other didn't...? Not that it matters..but nonetheless noticeable {Also, I was aware of the stars as I watched Dolly Bow Bow hauls prior to ordering the items}.

I asolutely loved this necklace {the rose definitely adds a nice touch}. As it is very beautiful here are my cons:
un. the gold enamel or whatever it is {?} wears off after a while. Then again, it's not the real McCoy, but I still like it.
deux. I've seen this pendant around many stores before. Most of them are silver so be aware it's not entirely unique. I'm not saying don't shop there as some of the stuff there is very nice and worth buying, but some things you see there you can find at kitschy or cheap vintage stores around your neighborhood {a good example of this would be the scrabble rings}.
Going back to the rose, I loved the material it is made out of as well as it won't damage too easily, the reason I express is is because of the second necklace:

The rose!! It fell off! And for good reason, it was made out of paper!!!!
I was initially upset about that. I expected better quality, as the lavender flower added a certain substance to the flower. After realizing that, I never wore the necklace as much as I would have wanted to, as I wanted to reduce the wear the tear. Eventually, within a year's time, the flower wilted and broke apart.
One would say, "But you could have returned/exchanged the item." True, but that would have costed, and it already costed like 2-4 pounds for shipping from what I recall, plus the currency exchange makes UK pricing pricier than CAN and US dollar.
And finally! the Dolly Bow!

I think this was called Daisy from what I recall, but I loved the material and this is very sturdy and durable and verrh pretty! The only con would be the headache I get after a while.
There are many DIYs for this product, which is why I got this patterned one :D. Also, it's very unique and adds something to any plain outfit.

Overall, I am pleased with the products I purchased. I am unsure about purchasing again only because of online shipping/handling and currency exchanges but that goes for online shopping in general. Another thing would {king of} not having a live preview of the product {like the ballerina girl necklace}, but that goes for online shopping in general encore.
I guess my suggestion would be for like ModCloth as an example, to list the materials the jewelry is made up of.
